Early Life and Family Background

Albert Putin was born in the early 1930s, and he is a few years older than his more famous younger brother, Vladimir. Living was not easy during the time of the Soviet Union for most families. Albert was the eldest son of Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin and Maria Ivanovna Putina. Albert’s parents belonged to the working class. Vladimir Spiridonovich worked in the Soviet Navy during World War II. The youth suffered horrible injuries caused by the Siege of Leningrad, which lasted more than two years. Maria Ivanovna worked in a factory during that time, earning extra money to support her children.

Vladimir Putin had also two elder brothers named Albert and Viktor. Viktor died shortly after he was born. Albert survived among Putin’s brothers until old enough entering into a serious condition at a very tender age to survive.

Sad Loss in the Leningrad Blockade

Albert Putin’s life was tragic. Like the majority of families during the Siege of Leningrad, the family had to face the toughest hardships. During the war, Albert contracted diphtheria, a serious bacterial infection that caused his death at such a young age, perhaps even before Vladimir was born. The loss of Albert must have been a difficult moment for the family, especially given the effects of war at that time.

Albert’s early death had really impressed Vladimir. Although he would always feel the weight of that loss while growing up without his older brother, he was never too old to remember the man himself.

The loss of Albert and Viktor served to also shape the life of the family and the family lifestyle through those harsh circumstances.

Few Know Much About Albert Putin in Public

Very little information about Albert Putin is available. His name often appears in the books and reviews of Vladimir Putin, but no pictures or anecdotes concerning him can be discovered. Because he died young, there was no chance for him to have a life in public like his younger brother. Albert was never active in politics; neither did he ever become infamous or famous.

What we do know is that he came from a family that would eventually take Russia by storm. His little brother, Vladimir, was president of the country and would become one of the most powerful leaders in the world. However, for Albert Putin, life was much more complicated. He went through loss at a very young age and came from a family that had to struggle with Russia in some of its darkest years.
