William was a lover of adventures that went beyond his job. He was a water skier and loved flying ultralight planes. He resided in Carnelian Bay, California for 13 years, before dying from cancer on December 28, at the age of 77.

He was a proud father of four children. Unfortunately, his son Burt died in the year 1976 after a car crash. William’s last resting place was Arlington National Cemetery, a fitting memorial for an undisputed hero.
