David Banda was born September 24th 2005, in Malawi. Unfortunately, shortly after birth his mother passed away and his father, Yohane Banda could no longer afford to take care of him; therefore he was placed at Home of Hope Orphanage. Madonna met David while on a trip to Malawi in 2006 with Guy Ritchie; upon meeting them they decided to adopt him amidst some controversy; their adoption became official later on that same year (2008).
