Jean Rodríguez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 10, 1980. Jean Carlos Rodríguez López-Cepero is his full name. He is the younger sibling of renowned singer Luis Fonsi. Both parents, Alfonso Rodríguez and Delia López-Cepero, were devoted music lovers. His mother, referred to as “Tata,” sang for a choir, while his grandfather was a trumpeter.

Solo Career
Jean began his music career as a solo artist. In 2006, he dropped his debut album, On, through Sony BMG Norte. His track “Duele” gained popularity and reached number one on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart. Throughout the years, he dropped other albums and mixtapes such as JeaniusMusiq Mixtape (2008), Out the Box (2008), and It’s Jean (2014). His music incorporates Latin pop, jazz, salsa, and R&B.
Coastcity Duo
Jean partnered with producer Danny Flores in 2014 to create Coastcity. Their sound blends Latin, soul, and urban. They collaborated with the best in the business, including Pitbull, J Balvin, and Camila Cabello. Their big feature was the Spanish rendition of Hey Ma, for which they were nominated for a Latin Grammy.
Collaborations and Achievements
Jean has collaborated with numerous top artists in the music world. He was the vocal coach for Beyoncé on the Spanish remix of Mi Gente.
