Joshua Dobbs is an American football player born in Alpharetta, Georgia on January 26, 1995. His football career began when he was five years old. He was a standout quarterback at Alpharetta High School. As a senior, he threw for 3,625 yards and 29 touchdowns. He had planned to attend Arizona State University, but then changed his mind and decided to attend Tennessee.
At the University of Tennessee, Dobbs majored in aerospace engineering. He received the Torchbearer Award, the highest undergraduate honor, for his academic and community service achievements. As a true freshman in 2013, he threw for 695 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 189 yards and one.
He entered the NFL after being drafted in the fourth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017. Initially, as the backup quarterback, he saw limited action in 2018. He gained 11 yards on four runs and completed six of twelve passes for 43 yards. He was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, but he didn’t see much action and was released in 2020, returning to the Steelers.
In 2022, he made his Cleveland Browns debut as Jacoby Brissett’s backup. The Lions signed him to their practice squad after the Browns released him. He made his NFL debut with the Tennessee Titans.
Dobbs rejoined the Browns in 2023 but was traded to the Arizona Cardinals after only eight weeks. Then he was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings in 2023.
