Career and Rise to Fame
Lola began professional dancing at 16. Her first film was in Luces de España. Shortly thereafter, she transferred to Madrid, where she was discovered by director Fernando Mignoni. In 1940, she had her first important role in Martingala.
She became famous in 1943 through Zambra, a musical revue in which she sang with flamenco dancer Manolo Caracol. Their hits, including La Zarzamora and La Niña de Fuego, have become classics. Lola was famous for mixing flamenco, copla, rumba, and ranchera music.
Her charisma and stage presence made her a star. She was referred to as “La Faraona” (The Pharaoh) and “Lola de España.” She remained active in the show business until her death in 1995.

Personal Life and Family
Lola Flores married Antonio González “El Pescaílla” in 1958. He was a Barcelona-born guitarist. They had three children together:
Lolita Flores – A singer and actress.
Antonio Flores – A musician.
Rosario Flores – A gypsy singer and actress.
Lola was not of Roma origin but married into a family of gypsies. Due to this, she gained a status as an icon in the Roma community. She was respected for her strength and passion.


Lola Flores’ Legacy
Lola Flores made a lasting impression on Spanish culture. She appeared in numerous films and sang several top songs. Her legacy lasted even after her passing. In 2007, a biopic film, Lola, la Película, was produced on her life.

Alba Flores is Lola Flores’ granddaughter. Alba is Antonio Flores‘ daughter, who dedicated a song to her named Alba before his death. Unfortunately, he died when Alba was nine years old.
