Early Life and Family
Makena was born on July 1, 1998, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is Roman Catholic. Her father is Daniel Lautner, who is a pilot. Her mother is Deborah Lautner, who is an employee of a software company.
She has an older brother named Taylor Lautner. Taylor is a renowned actor. He acted in the Twilight series. The Lautner family relocated to Santa Clarita, California, in 2003. They did this to be close to Taylor’s acting career.
Taylor and Makena are best friends. They have a great relationship and usually stand by each other.
Love for Sports
Makena enjoyed playing volleyball so much. She played at the varsity level at Valencia High School. She was a diligent sportsperson. But then she suffered a huge setback.
First, she ruptured her ACL (one of the big knee ligaments). She got surgery and did therapy. She returned to volleyball afterwards. But tragically, she had another medical problem.
Makena developed SVT (supraventricular tachycardia). It caused her heart to beat too quickly. She required a procedure known as an ablation. The procedure worked, but she suffered nerve damage. This made it difficult to continue playing sports. She was forced to quit.
Although it was difficult, Makena remained steadfast. She spoke at a TEDx Talk in high school. It was titled “Unexpected.” She spoke of her experience and inspired others.
Assisting Her Brother in Finding Love
Makena also had a huge part in Taylor’s love life. She introduced Taylor to Taylor Dome, who turned out to be his wife. Makena met Taylor Dome at church in Nashville.
She said to her brother, “I found your future wife.” And she was correct. Taylor and Taylor Dome began dating in 2018. They wed in November 2022. Makena was glad to see her brother become more settled.
Makena’s Own Family
In May 2020, Makena wedded Jacob B. Moore. They had a plain wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic. They had a larger party later.
Makena welcomed a baby boy named Breckon in 2022. She enjoys being a mother. Taylor is an uncle now and he enjoys spending time with his nephew.
