Marlon David Jackson was born on March 12, 1957, in Gary, Indiana. Marlon is the sixth of nine children born to Joe Jackson and Katherine Jackson. Marlon was a twin, but his brother Brandon died at birth. Losing his brother was a very difficult experience for him. As he grew older, he became extremely close to his younger brother Michael Jackson and would always say that Michael was like a twin to him.

Joining The Jackson 5
Marlon started performing with his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Michael with The Jackson 5. Initially, he performed percussion instruments like the tambourine and conga. Subsequently, he was more involved in dancing and singing.
The Jackson 5 was signed with Motown Records in 1968. The first single, “I Want You Back,” became a number-one hit instantaneously. “ABC” and “I’ll Be There” also became chart-topping hits. The group became a worldwide sensation.

Marlon demonstrated himself to be more than just a musician. In 1999, he co-founded Major Broadcasting Cable Network (MBC). This eventually became the Black Family Channel, which featured programs celebrating African-American culture. The channel existed until 2007.
In 2008, he co-founded The Motherland Group LLC. The group focused on promoting tourism and awareness in Badagry, Nigeria, a city with profound historical significance.
Philanthropy
Marlon also devotes time to causes close to his heart. He founded the Study Peace Foundation. The foundation is tasked with spreading peace, harmony, and kindness. He has also assisted in programs for the homeless and needy individuals.
