Early Life and Family Roots
Summer Phoenix was born Summer Joy Bottom on December 10, 1978, in the United States, the youngest child in the Phoenix family. Her mother, Arlyn Sharon (née Dunetz), is of Hungarian-Jewish and Russian-Jewish descent. Her father, John Lee Bottom, was of English, German, and French ancestry and was a landscaper.
