Early Life and Family
Hite was born on 28th July, 2000. He is the third child of the Merrifield family. He spent his childhood in North Carolina, where sports dominated his life.
His father, Bill Merrifield, played college baseball. Bill was a third baseman at Wake Forest University. He went on to play six years of Minor League Baseball. Although he never reached an MLB field, he did appear once on the active roster of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bill then served as an assistant athletic director at Wake Forest. He coached and advised his children, including Hite, as well.

His mother, Kissy Merrifield, also comes with a rich sporting background. She used to play tennis. Kissy is from South Carolina. She won five South Carolina state tennis titles. She also played tennis at Wake Forest University. She worked in social services and preschool education after college.
Hite has two older siblingss. His older brother, Whit Merrifield, is a prominent MLB player. His older sister, Costner Merrifield, is a real estate broker.

Life at High School
Hite attended Davie County High School in North Carolina. He was not only a baseball player at his school. He also played football and was an all-conference defensive back. He was an excellent student as well. He achieved the honor roll each year.
Hite opted to graduate high school early. He graduated in 2018 late and enrolled at Wake Forest University in January 2019.
College Baseball Career
Hite enrolled with Wake Forest’s Demon Deacons baseball team. He was used as a pinch runner, pinch hitter, and a defensive player. He played limited, but had some great performances.
In 2020, the year was shortened due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, Hite demonstrated some ability. He recorded a couple of hits, one being a double with an RBI.
Although his time in college was brief, he did everything he could with it. His part was more of assisting the team where assistance was required.
A Family of Athletes
The Merrifields have a reputation for sporting ability. Hite’s father played professional baseball. His mother was a tennis star. His older brother Whit is a three-time MLB All-Star. Whit began his MLB career in 2016 with the Kansas City Royals. He went on to play for the Blue Jays, Phillies, and currently the Atlanta Braves.
Whit wed Jordan Michael in 2019. They had a baby girl in 2024.
Although Hite never turned pro like Whit, he has the same passion and ambition for the game. His is one part of a larger family saga in sports.
