Early Life
Archie was born on May 6, 2019, early in the morning in London, England. He weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Archie’s full name was chosen by his parents to show both love and meaning. “Archie” is often linked to the ideas of bravery and honesty. “Harrison” can mean “son of Harry”, making it a perfect middle name for him.
When he was born, Archie became seventh in line to the British throne, meaning that he held an important place in the royal family from the very start.
His Parents and Family Background
Archie’s parents are Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry is the younger son of King Charles III. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, is an American and an actress by profession. For this reason, Archie is the first British royal born to an American mother in modern times.
Archie also has African-American heritage with his mother’s side of the family. This is considered an important step by many because it shows more diversity in the royal family, along with change.
Later on, Archie became a big brother to his sister, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten‑Windsor, born in 2021. They reportedly are very close and playful together.

A Different Royal Childhood
When Archie was born, Prince Harry and Meghan made a very special choice. They decided their child would not have a royal title initially. He could have been referred to as “Earl of Dumbarton,” but his parents wanted something less complicated for him. In that case, he would go by “Master Archie.”
They didn’t want his life to become public. They wanted him to grow up without the intense rules that came along with royal tradition. In the year 2020, his parents stepped back from their royal duties. The family then relocated to North America and embarked on a new journey.
Due to this move, most of Archie’s life is spent in the United States. He is growing up out of the royal spotlight. He does normal things that any other child his age would do.
His Personality and Public Appearances
Meghan has spoken about how calm and sweet Archie is. Smiling often, he loves to explore. Mostly kept from public view by his parents, he was photographed on some special moments.
When he was only a few months old, one of the first major public visits he made was to South Africa with his parents. He even got to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu, one of the most famous peace leaders in history. During the visit, pictures showed how playful and curious Archie was.

Royal Style and Title Changes
Archie himself did not have a title at the time, but things changed. When his grandfather, King Charles III, ascended to the throne, Archie became a prince. His full title became “Prince Archie of Sussex.” Also, in recent years, his parents started using the family name “Sussex” for both Archie and Lilibet. It connects them to their parents’ royal roles but still feels simple and modern.
