NBA Career Path in 2019-20
High School and College
Frank attended St. Rita High School in Chicago before going on to Lewis University where he became one of the greatest players ever seen there – scoring 1,521 points as seventh leading scorer, earning him induction into their Hall of Fame in 1992.
Professional Career
After college, Frank found success playing professional basketball in South America. Although he did not reach the NBA, his passion for the game never subsided – he continued playing exhibition matches with Marathon Oil AAU team into his 30s!

Frank Kaminsky Sr. had an enormous influence on shaping Frank Kaminsky III into an accomplished professional basketball player. As his youth basketball team’s coach from fourth through eighth grades, he encouraged all the players on Frank’s youth basketball team to develop as individual talents rather than assign fixed positions; this allowed them to acquire various skill sets more comprehensively and create more balanced skill sets overall.
Frank Kaminsky III’s guidance and experience provided a strong foundation. Later he would go on to be a star at University of Wisconsin before going onto play in NBA – maintaining their strong bond.
Family Life
Frank and Mary Kaminsky share an affection for sports that they have passed along to their four children. Mary played volleyball at Northwestern University before going on to teach special education in Illinois. Both parties share this love of athletics together with the children they raised together.
Frank Sr. has seven biological children:
Frank Kaminsky III – NBA player and former Wisconsin Badgers standout.
Kaylee Kaminsky – works as an analyst at Bunzl Distribution. Prior to this role, she served as volleyball graduate assistant at University of St Francis.
Hannah Kaminsky – Hannah Kaminsky was a volleyball player at Southern Illinois University before marrying Evan Leski in 2023.
Frank also has four stepchildren – Jamie, Gabbie, Grace and Steve. He treasures family time spent with all his offspring.

Passion for Sports
Frank Sr. has always had a keen interest in all forms of athletics, particularly baseball. Growing up in Chicago made baseball an integral part of his life; even though basketball remains his main passion he holds an immense love for the White Sox!

Frank Sr. and III are widely known for their supportive yet playful parenting styles, often described by his wife Mary as being “knuckleheads,” while Frank Sr. shares in that light-hearted approach as well.
