Srdjan Djokovic is the father of renowned tennis player Novak Djokovic. Srdjan was born on April 25, 1961, in Mitrovica, then a part of Yugoslavia. He was brought up in a neighboring town called Zvečan, situated in Kosovo.
Srdjan was also an athlete. He was a professional skier and a ski instructor. He worked at Serbian ski resorts Kopaonik and Brezovica. That is where he got married to his wife, Dijana Žagar, who is Croatian.

Family Life
Srdjan and Dijana Djokovic married and had children in the mountains of Serbia. They ran a restaurant, Red Bull Pizzeria (unconnected with the energy drink), and a sports shop. They had three sons together:
Novak Djokovic (born 1987)
Marko Djokovic (born 1991)
Djordje Djokovic (born 1995)
All three brothers played tennis. Novak, naturally, became one of the all-time greats. Marko and Djordje played tennis but did not achieve the same level of success.
A Father’s Support
Srdjan and Dijana were not from a tennis family. But they recognized something special in Novak when he was a young boy. Even in difficult times, they did whatever they could to enable him to succeed.
The 1990s were difficult for the family. War and financial difficulties made life extremely difficult. Nevertheless, Srdjan sold household items and took loans to cover Novak’s training. He hired coaches, purchased equipment, and took Novak to tournaments.
Srdjan had faith in his son right from the start. He struggled hard to fulfill Novak’s dream.
Srdjan’s Personality
Srdjan is outspoken and never hesitates to speak his mind. He has made dozens of public remarks—some of them provocative. At one time, he referred to Novak as “sent by God” to save the planet. He frequently refers to his son as the greatest tennis player ever.
Srdjan is also politically involved. He has posted pro-Russian sentiments and is an advocate of Serbia’s current regime party. This has been troublesome, particularly at tennis tournaments.
In 2023, he was spotted with fans holding pro-Russian flags during the Australian Open. This was criticized. Later, Srdjan claimed that he didn’t intend to convey a political message.

Health Issues
In April 2024, Srdjan fell at home. He cracked his arm and required surgery. The recuperation was slow as a result of complications. Novak remained in Serbia to assist in taking care of him. Their deep relationship as father and son was evident.

Novak wedded Jelena Djokovic, his high school girlfriend, in 2014. They have two kids:
