And let’s be realistic—seeing her kick butt against the bad guys (even when they’re the so-called “good guys”) is intensely gratifying.
2. Jessica Jones (2015-2019)
Marvel’s Jessica Jones is not your average superhero tale. It’s darker, grittier, more psychological. Erin Moriarty stars as Hope Shlottman, a young woman whose life is turned upside down by the mind-controlling villain Kilgrave (played chillingly by David Tennant).
Hope’s tale is tragic. She’s not a lead, but she’s integral to the show’s first season. Oh, soap operas. Love them, hate them, but they’ve made some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Erin Moriarty’s budding acting career began with a small part in One Life to Live, which is one of the longest-running daytime dramas.
