Early Life and Family
Marcus is Michael Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, son. Marcus has two other siblings from their marriage: Jeffrey Jordan, the older brother, and Jasmine Mickael Jordan, the younger sister. Marcus has two half-sisters, Victoria Jordan and Ysabel Jordan, whom he got when his father wedded Yvette Prieto as his second wife.
Having grown up in a basketball royalty family, Marcus was exposed to the game from a young age. His father, Michael Jordan, is regarded as among the greatest basketball players ever. Marcus idolized him and emulated his steps.
Basketball Journey
Marcus began his basketball career in high school. He played for Loyola Academy in Illinois, where he was on a team that captured a conference championship. He later enrolled at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. He took the team to an Illinois 4A Championship in 2009 and was crowned the state tournament MVP.
Marcus attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) to play college basketball after high school. While at UCF, he was quite remarkable, gaining 1,152 points as a career player. In one of the standout games, he scored a record 28 points. Marcus landed himself in hot water when he wore Nike Air Jordan shoes instead of the team’s uniform sponsored by Adidas that his university wore. This precipitated the dropping of Adidas’s sponsorship of UCF.
Though a skilled player, Marcus departed from the team in 2012. In 2013, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.
Business Ventures: Trophy Room
Marcus was not only interested in basketball. He also had a business interest. In 2016, he established Trophy Room, which is a high-end sneaker shop. Trophy Room was named after his father’s trophy and achievement collection. Trophy Room gained popularity because of its exclusive items and premium sneakers.
Initially, the store was based in Disney Springs, Florida, but it shifted to an online-only business model later. Though the change occurred, the store remains a favorite among sneakerheads and basketball enthusiasts.
Personal Life: Relationships and Public Appearances
Marcus Jordan has been making headlines not just for playing basketball and being an entrepreneur but also for his personal life. Perhaps one of the most discussed aspects of his life has been his relationship with Larsa Pippen, ex-wife of Scottie Pippen. Scottie Pippen was a Chicago Bulls teammate of Michael Jordan. Marcus and Larsa’s relationship received a lot of attention because of their age gap and the fact that they were related to NBA legends.
Marcus has also made appearances on reality television programs. He was a contestant on the second season of the reality show The Traitors, which brought him more public recognition. He also made an appearance on The Real Housewives of Miami, further increasing his fame in the entertainment industry.
