He went to various high schools, such as President William McKinley High School in Honolulu, Glencliff High School, and McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee, before finally going to Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1990.
He was at one time thrown into a culture of conflict and petty crime, but he struggled initially when he came to Freedom High School. At 17, he had been arrested numerous times for fighting, theft, and check fraud; he was also once suspended for two weeks for fighting.
However, it was his high school football coach Jody Cwik who instilled athletic potential in him by signing him up for his school football team; hence, he played defensive tackle. Indeed, this proved to be a huge personal transformation for Johnson.
His academics also started to get better, and he was offered a full athletic scholarship by the University of Miami to play football. Johnson played on the 1991 national championship team at the University of Miami. He spent four years there, always caught deep in the depth order behind elite players and mostly seeing back-up duty.
He earned a Bachelor of General Studies with a dual major in criminology and physiology from the University of Miami in 1995. At the time, Johnson was one of the university’s most prolific student speakers in the Miami-area community.

Dany Garcia (1996–2008)
Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia met at the University of Miami in the early 1990s. Marrying in 1997, they found common ground in their ambitions and drive. They had a daughter, Simone, born in 2001, divorced in 2008, but remained very strong friends and professionally close.
After their divorce, Garcia went on to manage Johnson. She was instrumental in helping him cement his international brand and career. In 2012, the duo jointly formed Seven Bucks Productions, which has become a powerhouse media company. Their professional collaboration continued to soar, with Garcia serving as one of the most influential motivators for Johnson’s trajectory toward becoming one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors.
Lauren Hashian (2007–Present)
For the first time, Dwayne and Lauren Hashian met in 2006 when Johnson was working on the set of The Game Plan. By that time, Johnson was in the process of divorce from his first wife, Dany Garcia. Net worth October 2024
$800 million
As of October 2024, it’s estimated that Julia Roberts has a net worth of about $800 million, based on information from different reliable sources. He is one of the highest paid entertainers in the world, with several means through which he amasses his immense fortune. Let’s delve further into the major sources of his income and the amount he makes from each of them.
1. Acting
Dwayne Johnson’s main source of income is acting. He has acted in several blockbuster movies such as Fast & Furious franchise, Jumanji, Moana, and Black Adam.
For his biggest roles, it’s claimed he pockets upwards of $20-25 million per movie, including a percentage of the box office take and backend deals. An example would be Red Notice in 2021, where he earned an upfront salary of $23.5 million with backend profits afterward added in. He can make up to $50-70 million annually from his film work alone, depending on how many projects and profit shares he’s involved with.
2. Producing
Along with ex-wife Dany Garcia, he co-founded Seven Bucks Productions in 2012. It’s been behind a lot of his films and TV projects such as: Ballers, Jumanji and Jungle Cruise. Johnson is producing content that he stars in, but he also produces projects he does not act in.
It’s estimated he makes several millions more each year from producing, often taking advantage of both his actor and producer functions. His producer fees can come in the area of $1-3 million per project.
3. Wrestling (WWE)
Though Johnson is retired from full-time wrestling, from time to time, he makes special appearances in WWE. This is where his wrestling career originally made him famous, and he continues his relation with WWE.
He may no longer get a regular salary from WWE, but he can still earn in millions through special appearances or sponsorships with WWE alone, such as hosting WrestleMania. His earnings in WWE also set him up well, while in WWE, he was an estimated active WWE superstar earning approximately $15 million annually at the height of his career.
4. Endorsements and Sponsorships
Dwayne Johnson has collaborated with top brands in endorsement deals. For instance, Under Armour carries his line of clothes, shoes, and accessories under his Project Rock label. He also collaborates on fitness and health projects, as well as lifestyle projects involving other brands.
Endorsements take a fat share of his earnings, which range at approximately $10-20 million every year. Among these, one is with Under Armour, which makes him millions every year because of the sale of Project Rock items.
5. Teremana Tequila
In 2020, Johnson co-founded Teremana Tequila, and before he even got it off the ground, it turned into one of the fastest-growing tequila brands. He is highly invested in promoting and growing the brand.
Teremana’s success might just propel Johnson into the billionaire’s club in coming years. In 2021, an estimate showed it was selling hundreds of thousands of cases per year, a number still growing as of 2023. While the specific revenues that Johnson has accrued from Teremana remain tight-lipped, sources speculate that he will break a billion dollars from the company if Teremana continues its current growth pace.
6. Television Ventures
Johnson has acted in and produced several television projects, including Ballers for HBO and Young Rock for NBC. Most times, he is an executive producer, which adds a lot to his earnings.
He was said to be earning approximately $650,000 per episode during the final season of Ballers. Over five seasons of Ballers, this means millions of dollars. Adding to that TV-related income will be the continuing show Young Rock.
7. Fitness and Lifestyle Ventures
He has other business ventures in the same field, like his line of gyms and other products dealing in the same arena.
By doing all this, he is estimated to be raking in several millions from endorsement deals, among other lines, including his franchise of gyms.
8. Social Media
Having one of the largest followings globally, nearing almost 350 million between the various social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, he has the potential to leverage huge fees for sponsored posts and partnerships.
Reports suggest that Johnson can gain as high as $1 million for a single sponsored post on his Instagram account. During 2020, he topped the list of the highest-paid influencers on Instagram. Social media endorsement deals are believed to add around $10-15 million to his revenues every year.
9. Real Estate
Many wealthy individuals own a real estate investment. Johnson owns several real estates that include mansions in Florida, Georgia, and California. These estates also serve personal purposes and also act as a lucrative investment.
Real estate, however, is not considered a primary source of income for Johnson, but his portfolio is estimated to be tens of millions of dollars in value, adding to his overall net worth.
10. Merchandise Sales
With a huge following both in wrestling and in Hollywood, he also earns from merchandise deals displaying his name, image, and brand. This includes everything from action figures down to clothing lines.
Merchandise sales, too contribute several million dollars to his kitty each year.
Total Estimated Earnings
Forbes estimates that his income for the year 2020 is at approximately $87.5 million, which may get pushed further depending on the number of projects he works on. His estimated worth currently would be approximately $800 million, contributed mostly by his diversified portfolio and business acumen.
