Ileana was born in Havana, Cuba. Her family fled the country when she was only seven years old. They were fleeing from Fidel Castro’s regime. After numerous attempts, they finally arrived in the United States. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and struggled to establish a new life.
Life as a Nurse
Ileana became a nurse. She adored assisting others and wished to contribute. In 1979, at Coral Gables Hospital in Florida, she met Mike Hosmer. He was a firefighter, although other sources claim he might have been a police officer. The two married in 1986 after they fell in love.
Family and Children
Ileana and Mike had two sons:
Mike Hosmer Jr., born in 1985, was also a fantastic baseball player. He was awarded a scholarship to Florida State University but ended up becoming a stockbroker in Miami. He married Nicole Suess in 2017. They have two daughters.
Eric Hosmer, born in 1989 in Miami, turned out to be a Major League Baseball player. He plays first base and is very famous in the baseball world.
